Professor Ogechukwu N. Iloanusi, Ph.D.
Academic, researcher and AI technology leader with extensive experience in artificial intelligence, biometrics, computer vision, machine learning, research computing and intelligent systems.
Professor Iloanusi is Director of Biometrics Visions Computing, where her research interests span biometric recognition, computer vision, artificial intelligence, machine and deep learning, intelligent and connected systems, healthcare analytics and data-driven engineering applications.
Her career combines academic research and teaching with research technology, scientific computing and the development of AI-enabled infrastructure. She has authored more than 60 scholarly publications across biometrics, artificial intelligence, computer vision, intelligent systems, healthcare analytics and engineering education.

Research Leadership and Academic Experience
University of Nigeria
Professor Iloanusi has over 18 years of academic experience in Electronic and Computer Engineering, encompassing teaching, research, postgraduate supervision, curriculum development, academic leadership, and research administration.
She served as Chair of the Department from 2020 to 2023 and led academic, research and institutional initiatives in artificial intelligence, biometrics, computer vision, intelligent systems and engineering education.
Through BVC, she has led and supervised research involving fingerprint, face, iris and voice biometrics; multimodal recognition; machine and deep learning; AI-IoT systems; healthcare analytics; computer vision; predictive systems; and intelligent data processing.
University of Notre Dame
From 2023 to 2026, Professor Iloanusi served as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame.
At the Center for Research Computing, she contributed to the Remote Emerging Disease Intelligence Network (REDI-NET), including cyberinfrastructure supporting international genomic surveillance and multidisciplinary scientific collaboration.
She led the architecture, deployment and operation of Notre Dame’s Open WebUI Generative AI platform, supporting secure access to multiple large language models for research.
She subsequently conducted research in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in blockchain-enabled biometric systems, trustworthy AI, computer vision and generative AI, with particular interest in privacy-preserving authentication and decentralized digital identity.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Fellowships and Academic Visits
Her international academic and research experience includes appointments and fellowships at the University of Notre Dame, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Southampton and West Virginia University.
These experiences have encompassed biometrics and computer vision research, research computing, artificial intelligence and engineering education.
